A dental crown is comprised of a tooth-shaped structure that is placed at the site of a missing tooth or capped over a severely damaged tooth as a way of restoring its appearance and function. Our dental crowns offer a remarkably natural look excellent performance.
Patients receive dental crowns for many reasons, including:
- Strengthening teeth
- Root canal treatment
- Enhancing tooth function
- Adjusting tooth appearance
- Correcting misshapen teeth
The process of applying a dental crown starts by shaving off some of the enamel on the tooth designated for treatment. This will provide an appropriate amount of space for the new crown. Next, we carefully apply the crown and secure it using a dental adhesive. Our team will make that the dental crown is secure before providing the patient with important instructions on how to properly care for their new crown.
Sometimes referred to as partial dentures, a dental bridge is installed when a patient is missing multiple teeth. Bridges are comprised of natural-looking prosthetic teeth that are supported by the original teeth that are still present inside a patient’s mouth on either side of the gap. A dental bridge can either be removable or permanently fixed inside the mouth depending upon its type.
Removable bridges are held in place using metal clasps or precision attachments. They are designed to remain securely in place when needed, even when the user is talking or eating. However, they can also be taken out of the mouth for cleaning purposes. On the other hand, fixed bridges can never be removed in any way, except through oral surgery. Fixed bridges can either be applied on top of supporting structures (implants) as a series of dental crowns, or they can be bonded directly to the other teeth and use them as support.
